US-Canada Transboundary Water Governance
These tables represent the range of Canada-United States transboundary governance mechanisms across the region of Montana, Idaho, Saskatchewan and Alberta at federal, state-provincial and local levels. They are sub-categorised according to major watersheds (St. Mary, Milk, Flathead, and Other) and are ordered by date of conception. They contain information on the form and objectives of the agreement, scope of enforcement and management, and relevant stakeholders. Mechanism types are categorised by treaty, memoranda of understanding (MOU), agreement (MOA) or cooperation (MOC), exchange of notes or other directives. Stakeholders refer to the organisation represented by members of the board, signatories or those otherwise mentioned within the text of the agreement or mandate.
